2026 Stingrays Lap-A-Thon
Hello Swim Team!
It’s time for the 2026 Stingrays Lap-A-Thon! Since we launched our first Lap-A-Thon in 2024, this has become our most significant fundraiser. We have replaced both our starting blocks and our lane line reel using Lap-A-Thon funds. This year we would love to purchase Stingrays logo pop up tents to use at swim meets. Lap-A-Thon funds also go towards general swim team operating costs, including coach salaries, meet fees, and social events. Our goal is always to keep registration costs low while providing a high-quality experience. Lap-A-Thon participation helps us do just that!
Last year we had 51 Lap-A-Thon participants and raised $9,945!! We would love to have even more participants this year. In addition to being a fundraiser, the Lap-A-Thon is also a personal challenge for many swimmers, who try to swim more laps than the year before. Swimmers can follow this link to see how many laps they completed in 2025.
Here are the answers to some common Lap-A-Thon FAQs:
What is a Lap-A-Thon?
Our Lap-A-Thon is a fundraiser in which swimmers raise money by swimming as many laps as they can in 30 minutes. Participants fundraise by soliciting donations from friends and family. Donors can either choose to give a set amount or make a pledge per lap.
Who can sign up?
Any Swan Lake swimmer is invited to participate in the Lap-A-Thon. This includes Stingrays, Junior Stingrays, Masters swimmers, lap swimmers, recreational swimmers, enthusiastic Swan Lake members. Any adult or child who loves to swim and can make it up and down the pool is welcome and encouraged to participate!
Do participants have to swim for 30 whole minutes?
No, you can take as many breaks as you need and stop whenever you feel like you are done. The important thing is to collect donations and have fun!
How do I sign up?
To register a swimmer to participate in the Lap-A-Thon, go to the Participant Center on our RallyUp page. Choose how many participants will be signing up, click “add to cart”, and follow the instructions to “check out”. Registration is free, but you will still go through the steps of “checking out”. At that point, you will receive a link to your personal fundraising page, which you can immediately start sharing with your friends and family!
What is considered a “lap”?
A lap is considered one length of the pool. At Swan Lake, each lap is 25-yards.
When will swimmers complete their laps?
There are two options for swimmers to complete their 30 minutes of laps:
- Swimmers can participate in our main event on Sunday, July 26from 4:45 - 6:00 PM. Depending on participation, there will be two or three 30-minute time slots in which swimmers can swim their laps with a designated counter to help them keep track. After the Lap-A-Thon, swim team families will stay for a potluck dinner and the Swim Team Awards Party, starting at 6:00.
- For those who cannot make it to the event on July 26, we will also have a lane available during swim team practice, “Masters” practice, and lap swimming hours during the week of July 20. Swimmers who are traveling can even swim their laps on vacation! They will just need to arrange for someone to count their laps and tell us how many laps they completed.
Are there prizes?
Yes! The top three households who raise the most money will each receive two weeks of prime parking in the Fundraiser parking spot at Swan Lake next summer. For this prize, we will add together fundraising from siblings who reside in the same house. We are working on a few more prizes too, so stay tuned and sign up!
We hope you will join us at the Lap-A-Thon on July 26. Please let me know if you have more questions!
Linn
