Hello Stingrays,

We are almost ready for our first home meet against Roland Run tomorrow!

PARKING - IMPORTANT

Please DO NOT PARK in the Swan Lake parking lot. This lot is reserved for Roland Run. We would also like to save as many spots in the surrounding streets as possible for Roland Run families, so please carpool and park far away if you are able. Morgan State has an event this weekend, so we do not have permission to park in the Morgan State lot this weekend.

ARRIVAL/WARMUPS

Coach Owen would like all swimmers to arrive at Swan Lake no later than 7:05am. Our team will warm up from 7:20 until 7:50. The meet will start promptly at 8:30.

SEATING AREA

Swan Lake’s team area is the lawn near the party pavilion and Clerk of Course, close to the shallow end and Lane 4. We will reserve the shady seats along Lane 1 for Roland Run. We want to be good hosts, so please respect the designated seating areas.

VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up for a volunteer shift! We have just a few spots left to fill. We still need someone to sell 50/50 raffle tickets, two greeters to monitor the parking lot in the morning, and one volunteer to help with concessions in the second half. I am always amazed and so grateful at how easy it is to fill our volunteer spots week after week. THANK YOU!!!

PARENT CHEER TUNNEL

We are trying something new this week. Parents will form a “Cheer Tunnel” on the pool deck on the far side of the shallow end around 8:20 for swimmers to run through before the meet. Join in when you see parents start to gather!

MEET ENTRIES

An updated draft of meet entries is attached to this email. This draft is still not final. Heat sheets will be available around 8:00 on the day of the meet, after we have adjusted for any last-minute scratches. If you’d like to view the heat sheets and follow meet results in *almost* real time, you can do so on the Swimtopia app.

RELAY ALTERNATES

The following swimmers are relay alternates. This means that they will only swim in the relay if another swimmer is unable to swim for some reason. Relay alternates are an important part of the team and sometimes they are needed at the last minute. If your swimmer is a relay alternate, please do not leave the meet early unless you have spoken to Coach Owen and confirmed that your swimmer is not needed for the relay.

CONCESSIONS

The Swan Lake concession stand will be open. In addition to the usual offerings, there will be donuts and taco-in-a-bag. Our sponsor Pizza Bravo will also be selling pizza by the slice.

REPORTING FOR RACES

During the meet, please listen to the announcer so you will know when it’s time for your swimmer to report to their race. The expectation is that swimmers and families will be in the Swan Lake seating area and listening to loudspeaker announcements. Generally, Clerk of Course gathers swimmers about four events before their race. Once swimmers are in the Clerk of Course area, volunteers will help them get into the correct heat and lane.

SPAGHETTI KISS POP UP

Stingrays sponsor Spaghetti Kiss will be hosting a pop-up this weekend. Spaghetti Kiss features Michael Bracco's unusual sci-fi and fantasy illustration screen printed onto apparel for men and women.
