Welcome to the 2026 summer swim season! Our first practice and Stingrays Evaluations are just over a week away!

Evaluations Information

Swimmers are divided into three subgroups: Stingrays, Junior Stingrays, and Junior Stingrays Plus. Descriptions for these groups can be found here (scroll down to the section titled Swimmer Eligibility). All new swimmers are required to attend an evaluation to confirm group placement.

STINGRAYS Evaluations

Evaluations for swimmers who hope to join the Stingrays will be held on Tuesday, May 26 during normal practice times at Swan Lake. Swimmers should arrive on time for their age group’s practice (see below). Evaluations will take place in Lane 1 (the lane closest to the wall). During evaluations, swimmers will be asked to swim one lap of freestyle and one lap of backstroke. Swimmers who pass the evaluation can participate in the remainder of practice. Swimmers who are not yet able to meet this threshold will be given the option to join the Junior Stingrays, to try again on June 11, or request a refund.

JUNIOR STINGRAYS (PLUS) Evaluations

Evaluations for swimmers who hope to join the Junior Stingrays or Junior Stingrays Plus will be held on Thursday, June 11, from 5:00 - 6:00 PM. Swimmers can arrive anytime between 5:00 and 5:45. Each evaluation will take about 5 minutes. Swimmers will be asked to swim across the width of the shallow end without touching the bottom of the pool. A coach will be in the water with each swimmer as a safety precaution. Swimmers who cannot swim across the shallow end without touching the bottom of the pool will not be able to join the swim team at this time. Swimmers can continue practicing and request a new tryout later in the summer, or we can refund your registration fee.

First Practice Information

The first practice for returning Stingrays is Tuesday, May 26. New Stingrays will be evaluated during practice. Stingrays practice will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings for the remainder of the school year, until the summer practice schedule begins on June 17. Swimmers should attend the practice time that correlates with their age, unless told otherwise by Coach Owen.

Tuesday / Thursday PM

9 & under - 5:00 - 5:45 pm

10 - 12 - 5:45 - 6:45 pm

13 & up - 6:45 - 8:00 pm

Junior Stingrays do not practice until the end of the school year. The first practice for Junior Stingrays (Plus) will be the week of June 15.

Virtual Family Meeting - May 27 at 7:30

Please mark your calendars and make sure at least one adult from your family can attend the Family Information Meeting on Wednesday, May 27 at 7:30. This meeting is virtual, and a link will be shared via email as well as on the calendar page of our Swimtopia website.
