Events and Heat Sheets
I am attaching two files to this email. The first is the list of events that each Stingray will be swimming. You’ll see an event number, heat, and lane. We will be combining some heats tomorrow to keep things moving, so your swimmers’ heats and lanes may change slightly, but don’t worry! The Clerk of Course will make sure your swimmers know where to go. It is your job as parents to listen for when your swimmer’s events are called to report and help your swimmers get to the Clerk of Course staging area, which is located behind the blocks and to the right, if you are facing the volleyball court.
The second attachment is the heat sheet. The heat sheet shows a list of all races in order. Swimtopia has a mobile app that you can use to view the heat sheet, but I haven’t tried it yet so I can’t give you any more information than that!
Volunteers Still Needed
We are in need of the following volunteers to run the meet: 4 timers (second half), 1 backup timer (second half), 2 Clerk of Course assistants (full meet), 1 Officials Communication Runner (second half). You can sign up in Swimtopia, following the same process you used to sign up your swimmer.
Dive Over Starts
We are going to try using “Dive Over” starts tomorrow. This is new for us! This means that after swimming a race, swimmers will NOT exit the pool immediately. Instead, they will wait in the water until after the next heat starts, at which point they will exit. If you are a timer, you will hold two stop watches, and you will alternate watches with each heat. When a race finishes, you will stop the watch you are using for that race, let it drop, and start the other watch for the next heat. You’ll write down the time from the first heat while the swimmers in the next heat are swimming. We hope this will help us keep the meet moving quickly. It’s not as complicated as it sounds!
Concessions
Stingrays sponsor Pizza Bravo will be selling slices of pizza, and the Swan Lake concession stand will be open with the usual items.
Finally, we would love to have a swimmer sing the National Anthem at the beginning of the meet. Please reply to this email if your child is interested.
We are looking forward to a fun meet!
Linn
